In order to assess and manage mitigation of environmental impacts from activities of hydropower plants in Central Region, Ministry of Industry and Trade entrusted Institute of Energy with Task “Overall assessment of environmental impacts from activities of hydropower plants in Central and Highland areas, proposal of environmental protection and management measures”
In the morning of 15th May 2012, in Hanoi, Institute of Energy held the first workshop on “Implementation methodology” for the above mentioned Task. The objective of the workshop is to consult experts, managers and related stakeholders on methodology, scope and subjects in implementation of the Task.
Attending the Workshop, apart from representatives of Ministry of Industry and Trade, there are more than 30 representatives from other ministries, sectors, associations, universities, research institutes, investors of hydropower projects and hydropower management units.
The workshop agreed that this Task is suitable in terms of interest and actual situation of present hydropower projects and professional qualifications of Institute of Energy. Objective of the Task is to identify hot environmental problems happening in Central and highland areas, their reasons and to propose measures for mitigation, prevention of environmental impacts, contributing in sustainable development of hydropower for the country.
