Abstract
The study recommends technical requirements for connecting dispersed power sources into the medium voltage network in Vietnam’s power system. It starts with an overview of the major available dispersed power sources in the world, some of their main characteristics and their appearance in Vietnam’s power system. Then the advantages and technical impacts of dispersed power sources on the power system are discussed. After that, the technical specifications of dispersed power sources to be connected to the medium voltage network in Vietnam, Northern European countries, USA, UK and some other countries are presented with comparison and assessment.
The study concentrates on the operation of dispersed power sources in Vietnam with small hydro in medium voltage distribution network as the selected model. In which, the focus is the impacts of dispersed power sources on voltage quality and protective system of the medium voltage network. From the study results, some proposals and recommendations on technical requirements for conntecting dispersed power sources into medium voltage network are presented.
