On 12 April 2012 in Dong Ha city, Quang Tri province, Institute of Energy and International Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand (EGATi) held Signing ceremony of Advisory Services Agreement on Preparation of Investment Proposal for Quang Tri Thermal Power Plant Project. Signing ceremony was attended and witnessed by Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong, Chairman of Quang Tri Province People Committee and leaders of departments, sectors of province and People Committee of Hai Lang district.
With experience and quality of successful consulting services at power plant projects of foreign investors such as thermal power projects Hai Duong, Van Phong 1, Nam Dinh, Institute of Energy continues to be entrusted by foreign investors to carry put engineering consultancy works for new coal fired power plant projects in Vietnam, including Quang Tri thermal power plant
According to the National Power Development Plan for period 2011 – 2020 with outlook to 2030 approved by Prime Minister, Quang Tri thermal power plant will have capacity of 1,200 MW, and it is anticipated to be put into operation in 2019 – 2020.
