On 16 Oct. 2012, a Pakistan’s Delegation headed by Mr. Abid Ali, the Vice Minister of Planning and Development, paid a working visit to Institute of Energy (IE). IE’s General Director Hoang Tien Dung received and worked with the Delegation
This is one of activities under the visit to Vietnam from 14th to 18th October 2012 by the Pakistan Delegation for getting information and learning Vietnam’s experience on Strategic Environment Assessment (SEA).
At the meeting with the Delegation, General Director Hoang Tien Dung introduced main business areas of Institute of Energy, including formulation of national power development master plans (PDPs) up to now, especially the national power development plan for period 2011-2020 with vision to 2030. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, the IE’s SEA study manager, presented SEA activities in preparation of national power development plan period 2011-2020 with vision to 2030. She presented main contents of SEA report, methodology, implementation steps, information exchange and cooperation between PDP team and SEA team, results achieved, difficulties-barriers faced and lessons learnt in the process of SEA implementation.
Vice Minister Abid Ali expressed thanks to Institute of Energy for warmly welcoming and working with the Pakistan delegation. He highly appreciated IE’s knowledge, experience, and information in SEA. He emphasized that such experience and information are really useful for Pakistan in carrying out SEA in coming time.
Both sides also discussed on cooperation opportunities in energy/electricity development for Vietnam and Pakistan.
