The construction of Hanoi West 220kV substation is according to the 5-year business plan for period 2011-2015 of Electricity of Vietnam, as approved by the Prime Minister. When commissioning, this substation will help improve power supply capacity and satisfy the growth of load demand of the Northern power system, especially of Hanoi area. The substation will simultaneously receive power from the hydropower plants in the North-West area and support the existing 220 kV substations in the region, creating a strong link among different areas in the power system, increasing the safety, stability and reducing power loss of the national power system.
