Applying mobile frequency-variation AC test system in testing AC voltage for substations with gas insulation switchgear up to 220kV voltage

Vu Thanh Hai, Institute of Energy

In recent years, there have been clear progresses in applying high technologies in our power sector. One of those technologies which have become popular is the application of enclosed switchgear insulated by SF6 gas, or the Gas Insulation Switchgear (GIS) in intermediary substations, and the use of SF6-insulated substations (GIS: Gas insulated substation).

The exact measurement results during design, production to installation show the high reliability and very low error ratio of this device. In commissioning test, high voltage test at site is necessary to test the homogeneous insulation of the insulator. Previously for GIS substation, the transformers were only tested at 50/60 Hz frequency in the AC test at site. Nowadays, mobilr resonant test set with frequency variation capacity from 45 Hz to 300 Hz can be applied effectively in GIS site test.
This article focuses on describing the mobile AC voltage test system and its functions relevant to testing Gas Insulation Substations at site.
