On 18th December 2015, the Prime Minister assigned Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) to preside at and cooperate with relevant organizations for carrying out several researches on Peer Review on Low Carbon Energy (PRLCE).
Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and under the program’s framework, from 18th to 19th February 2016, a 2-day symposium on Renewable Energy sector in Vietnam was taken place at the headquarters of the Institute of Energy, co-organized by Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC) and Institute of Energy.
The symposium focused on potential evaluation of RE resources, deployment of RE investment projects; detailed discussion about on-going RE programs and projects; current situation of biomass and practical experience of biogas projects…
Attending to the seminar, there are various specialists from the Governmental Office, Institute of Energy and professionals from (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) APEC countries.
During the first working day, Institute of Energy presented on “Current policy and Strategy for RE development up to 2030 – Impediments for RE take-off in Vietnam”. On the next day, the presentation on “Current status of using RE for power generation in Vietnam” supplied more detailed information on the deployed RE projects as well as the situation of each RE resources development (wind, solar, biomass, biogas, geothermal, …)
After two hard-working days with positive and serious discussion, the symposium has been successfully completed. The APERC delegation highly appreciated the enthusiasm and cooperation of Vietnamese Government Office and the Institute of Energy to the program.
